Comprehensive test results with the Vivalytic Norovirus Test

The majority of all gastrointestinal infections are triggered by noroviruses, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Noroviruses belong to the Caliciviridae family and are known to cause “winter sickness” or “stomach flu”, indicating their rapid spread in the human population, especially during the winter months.

As noroviruses are highly contagious, they pose a serious problem for healthcare facilities with debilitated patients, such as nursing homes. (1)

PCR-based diagnostics that are as fast, simple, and close to the patient as possible can help to make testing uncomplicated and to process sensitive samples quickly and without lengthy transport routes. The Vivalytic Norovirus* combines fast and precise testing at the point of sample collection.

What exactly happens in the Vivalytic Analyser?

The Vivalytic Analyser automates complex, molecular diagnostic processes that previously had to be carried out manually. This promotes high safety and quick availability of the test results.

1. Step
Samples are processed reliably.
2. Step
The external membrane of the cells is broken down through ultrasound.
3. Step
The nucleic acid (DNA/RNA) is purified for the PCR amplification.
4. Step
Specific DNA sequences are multiplied using PCR.
5. Step
The amplified DNA is identified by detecting a fluorescence or chemiluminescence signal.
