Comprehensive test results with the Vivalytic C. difficile test*

Gastrointestinal diseases (gastroenteritis) are inflammations of the stomach and the small and large intestines. Most gastrointestinal diseases are caused by infectious agents such as viruses or bacteria.

Among bacterial pathogens, Clostridioides difficile (C. difficile) plays an important role, especially in healthcare facilities such as hospitals or nursing homes, or after antibiotic treatment.

The clinical spectrum of C. difficile infection (CDI) ranges from mild diarrhea to severe, life-threatening pseudomembranous colitis. (1) About 15-20% of antibiotic-associated diarrheal diseases are caused by the pathogen C. difficile. (2)

PCR-based diagnostics that are as fast, simple and close to the patient as possible can help to make testing uncomplicated and to process the sensitive samples quickly and without a long transport route. The Vivalytic C. difficile* combines fast and precise testing at the point of sample collection.

What exactly happens in the Vivalytic Analyser?

The Vivalytic Analyser automates complex, molecular diagnostic processes that previously had to be carried out manually. This promotes high safety and quick availability of the test results.
